In vino veritas

The 2nd International Malvasia Festival of Monemvasia, will be held on October 24 - 26, 2025, highlighting its aroma and culture, its taste and history, building its myth and searching for truths.



It is the first international festival dedicated to Malvasia, the most famous wine in history, based in Monemvasia. Inspired by a verse from the Monemvasian poet Yannis Ritsos' poem "Leaving Monovassia" (from the poetry collection "Monovassia") that asks, "And what was it? Inverted time?", the festival symbolizes a return to the birthplace of this renowned wine—Monemvasia, the poet's "stone ship."

The festival is divided into three sections representing the myth of the famous wine: "Wine - History - Culture." Visitors are invited to explore the path and history of Malvasia while discovering the place where it all began.
The enduring presence of Malvasia wine, its production expansion from local to international vineyards, and its global commercial activity have made it a timeless collective and experiential experience, fostering multicultural interaction. Built upon the foundations of the place, its history, and the famous Malvasia wine, the festival offers wine-related activities, historical walks, educational seminars, tours, music, and art events.
