Amari Green Festival 2025
The 10th Amari Green Festival, taking place from July 18 to 21, 2025, in the area of the Asomaton School and the villages of the Municipality of Amari, includes a rich program promoting the cultural heritage, the circular economy, and the sustainable development.
The events include hiking routes, informative talks, music and theater performances, workshops on traditional doll and clay crafts, exhibitions, film screenings,, a 5x5 soccer tournament between villages, e.t.c.
This year, the Amari Green Festival invites you on a nostalgic journey back through time, reviving the enchanting sights, sounds, and stories of the beloved traditional village festivals of Crete. Under the theme, “How beautiful the villages once were, with their vibrant celebrations,” the festival captures the warm spirit and timeless charm of these gatherings, offering a captivating glimpse into the rich cultural heritage and joyful communal life that once defined the island’s rural heartlands.

The festival is organized by the Municipality of Amari with co-organizers the Region of Crete, the Regional Unit of Rethymnon, and the Chamber of Commerce of Rethymnon, and it is supported by AMARI MAE – OTA, the IDAION Network, the Psiloritis UNESCO Geopark, DIO, ELMEPA, ESEE, the "Smile of the Child" Organization, and in collaboration with the Cultural Associations of the villages of Agios Ioannis, Kouroutes, Apostoloi, Gerakari, Fourfouras, Mesonisia, Ano Meros, Lochria, Volionas, Vistagi, Nithavri, Thronos, Apodoulou, Platanos, and Patsos.
