Festival

From 10 to 13 September 2026, the village will host the first edition of “Megali Panagia Ampelonas”, a four-day festival dedicated to the region’s vineyards, wine and tsipouro, the grape harvest, local gastronomy and the people who have preserved a centuries-old winemaking tradition.



A tribute to the grape growers and winemakers of Eastern Halkidiki — people whose work has kept an ancient tradition alive.

Visitors will be invited to experience the traditions of the grape harvest through a rich programme featuring:

• - Parades accompanied by local marching bands and traditional costumes;
• - Reenactments of traditional wine customs;
• - Traditional Macedonian celebrations and festivities;
• - Live performances by jazz and brass ensembles from Banja Luka;
• - Tastings and presentations promoting local products and wines;
• - Master Chef booths featuring innovative cocktails made with wine and local tsipouro;
• - Special culinary creations featuring wine lees, alongside traditional recipes prepared “with wine”;
• - A dedicated Family Day;
• - A “Grapes & Honey” workshop;
• - Visits and experiences at local wineries;
• - Mushroom foraging excursions and olive oil tastings;
• - Visits to local cheesemaking facilities;
• - A live demonstration of the preparation of the traditional Megali Panagia sausage with wine lees.

A special tribute will also focus on the wine tradition of Mount Ethos, whose winemaking heritage stretches back many centuries and continues to be preserved by the Athonite monks with profound respect for their cultural and spiritual legacy.
