Five Unique Beaches in Mykonos
Mykonos has something for everyone! With dozens of popular beaches, sometimes it’s nice to escape crowds and enjoy hidden gems. BIG tip… remote beaches have the best taverns!
Here are FIVE recommendations for unique Mykonos experiences!
Relax at Agios Sostis. It’s easy to find this small beach in northern Mykonos, just a 5 min walk from Panormos. The beach is named for the church guarding the entrance.

No sunbeds or umbrellas, but soft sand and an inviting cove.
Find Fokos. The road to Fokos is not paved, but is friendly enough to take via scooter. This beach is far off the beaten path, and attracts people looking to escape crowds and enjoy a natural environment.
Experience hippy vibes at Ftelia. Find this beach by making a detour on the way to Ano Mera. It’s typically quite windy, known for windsurfing and kite-boarding.
Enjoy local experiences on tiny Kapari beach. After winding out of Chora along the coast, you will find a VERY small, locals-only, beach behind the chapel of Agios Ioannis.

On Kapari, it’s best to bring a picnic. We stopped at a bakery for filo pies, spending the rest of the day lounging on the rocks. Nothing like filling your belly with buttery, flakey dough before napping in the sun!
Swim at Lia Beach. Lia is my favorite in-between beach - it has a remote feel and plenty of untouched sand. The best part of Lia is the inviting water, protected by the surrounding cove. Without a wave in sight, we swam and floated for hours.
Prefer a beach party vibe? I can’t blame you for that. Mykonos is known as the place where every day is Saturday and you can party ‘til dawn! My remote beach recommendations are for travelers wanting to change it up!
