Most of you know it as the ultimate party island, with all-day fun in the large sandy beach of Mylopotas and all-night fun at the bars of Hora. In recent years, however, many visitors discover some other aspects, such as its exquisite cheeses, or the extensive network of trails. Moreover, two brand new boutique hotels opened this summer, showing that Ios can attract a more sophisticated public. The “Relux Ios” (www.reluxios.com) – in minimalist Cycladic style with modern touches and with the element of stone taking center stage – is located in the area of the marina of
Ios, near the port, and features rooms and suites of various types (some with an outdoor hot tub), and a restaurant. In the area of Koubara, the “Agalia Luxury Suites” (www.agaliahotel.com), a member of Small Luxury Hotels, affords magnificent views from its terrace with the large swimming pool and loves the pop and design atmosphere and good food: the restaurant’s menu was created by the well-known Greek chef Gikas Xenakis. He also signs the menu of the sister – also new –“Pathos” bar-restaurant (http://pathoslounge.com) that is located close to the hotel and is an ideal option at sunset. Just outside Hora, the luxurious “Liostasi Ios Hotel & Spa” (www.liostasi.gr), also a member of Small Luxury Hotels, deserves your attention also for “Grandma’s” restaurant that serves modern Greek cuisine.
