The boutique hotel “Antonio Gambello” just opened in Nafplio
Two hours away from
Athens,
Nafplio, one of the most charming cities in the
Peloponnese, is a beloved destination all year round. Very close to the atmospheric historical center of the town, between the main Vassileos Konstantinou and Staikopoulou Streets, “
Antonio Gambello” recently opened its doors. It is a boutique hotel that represents the intersection between past, present, modern and classic. The grand hotel, named after the Italian architect of the Venetian fortress of Bourtzi, is housed in one of the oldest mansions in Nafplio. So far, it consists of 6 rooms (classic rooms, junior and superior suites), and, within the next year, it will feature five more rooms, which are now under construction. High-ceilinged, well-lit and spacious (35-45 m²), the rooms make an immediate impression thanks to their minimal decoration. With vintage furniture, nude shades on the walls, eccentric fabrics, and austere bathrooms, each room has its unique character. The shared feature of most of them is the stunning view, with Bourtzi and Palamidi in the foreground. The hotel’s centerpiece is, of course, the imposing winding staircase in the middle of the reception hall, which strongly emphasizes the feeling of being in an authentic mansion. The same applies to the spacious breakfast room, where one can enjoy a tasty and hearty à la carte breakfast that boasts a must-eat homemade apple pie.
