Rhodes International Festival 2016
The
Rhodes International Festival 2016 will take place from September, 6 to September, 12 at the historical, medieval Palace of the Grand Magister offering once again unique music nights to the public.
The festival, which started in 2007, has hosted very significant events as well as several renowned orchestras, music ensembles and artists. The famous Palace of the Grand Magister is located in the medieval city of Rhodes which has been classified by UNESCO’s catalogue as a Monument of World Cultural Heritage.
Russia is the honored country of the 2016 festival, within the frame of the “Greek-Russian friendship” year. The distinguished Russian pianist Vadim Palmov is the guest of honor, of the Rhodes International Festival official opening concert on Tuesday, 6 of September.
On Wednesday 7 of September, the festival presents Yiannis Andronoglou, one of the most prestigious Greek guitarists with international. The artist will perform works by spanish & latin american composers.
On Saturday 10 September the Greek oudist, pianist and composer Alekos Vretos merges jazz, Arabic, Greek and Latin music in a masterful and uplifting blend of sounds.
The 2016 festival will say good bye to the audience on Monday 12 of September, with the most popular female electric quartet “Fortissimo” in a dynamic show with Classical, Latin, Rock & Pop international hits.
The Rhodes International Festival 2016 is realized by the “Rhodes International Festival” cultural organisation in collaboration with the Culture and Sports Organisation of the Municipality of Rhodes under the artistic direction of Mrs Penelope Serdari. It is held under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Hellenic National Commission for Unesco, the Russian Cultural & Scientific Center in Athens and it is supported by “Rhodes 2021 /European Capital of Culture Candidate City” organization as well as the Greek National Tourism Organisation.
