The “AthenaStreet Car-Free” initiative returns for the third consecutive year on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September 2026, with free admission.



For a full 24 hours, Athinas Street will be closed to vehicles and open to walking, cycling, sports, games, music, creative activities and entertainment.

The experience begins on Saturday at 20:00, with the first 30 minutes dedicated to a different kind of walk. With no organised activity and no vehicles, residents and visitors will be able to freely walk along Athinas Street, from Evripidou Street towards Monastiraki, as daylight fades and the Acropolis takes centre stage in the distance.

Next, Athens Disco takes over with a large open-air party, while from 11:00 until the early hours of the morning, Midnight Express will transform Athinas Street into an open-air cinema, with three consecutive screenings.
