Kastellorizo

From August 23 to 30, 2026, the 11th edition of "Beyond Borders" – Kastellorizo International Documentary Festival will take place, centered around the core theme: "What remains if you remove the obvious?"

This year, the festival received 634 submissions from 156 countries (375 medium and feature-length films, and 259 short films). Out of the 42 films selected for competition, 35 will make their Greek, international, or world premieres, with many having previously screened at major film festivals around the globe.

Beyond Borders 2026 will feature 3 distinct screening stages:

• Main Competition Section: Featuring 18 medium and feature-length documentaries (including 3 Greek productions).
• Micro Competition Section: Featuring 24 short documentaries (including 5 Greek productions and co-productions).
• Panorama Stage (Out of Competition): Dedicated to Swiss documentary cinema, showcasing 14 short, medium, and feature-length films alongside daily cinematic tributes and high-impact documentaries.

CLOSING FILM (WORLD PREMIERE)

Island Me A Film by Danae Elon, a cinematic portrait centered on Kastellorizo itself, highlighting the history, memory, and unique identity of Greece's easternmost island.

Beyond film screenings and workshops, the festival organizes parallel cultural events every year, transforming Greece's most remote border island into a global cultural crossroads for people of all ages.
