Athens International Airport «El. Venizelos»
Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" (ATH) is one of the most modern airports in the world. With excellent ground services, it is a particularly attractive gateway to Greece. Since opening day in March 2001, it has won international awards and accolades, but most importantly it has won the hearts of visitors who regard it as one of the most functional and comfortable airports in Europe. It is located 33 kilometres southeast of Athens and is easily accessible thanks to the Attiki Odos motorway, as well as frequent metro and suburban rail services, and bus lines leading to central Athens and the ports of Piraeus, Rafina, and Lavrio — perfect if you are departing the same day for an island.
The airport museum offers you the chance to learn about Eleftherios Venizelos, the iconic statesman after whom the airport is named.
