Night of the Spirits
In Amfissa, you will experience one of the most special ritual customs of Greece. In the narrow streets of the traditional district of Harmaina, where the art of tanning once flourished, the myth of Konstantis is revived. According to local lore, Konstantis became a spirit when lightning struck his beloved Lenio. The two-day events begin on Friday night with music, food, dancing and the "Awakening of Konstantis", to continue the next day with the "Night of the Spirits" and a huge procession, ending in Kehagia Square. Bell bearers, leather bearers and mythical figures accompany the spirit in the nocturnal city, in an evocative reenactement that blends folk faith with artistic expression.
During major celebrations and folk events in Amfissa, the municipality typically provides designated viewing areas for visitors with disabilities and their companions. Accessible parking spaces are available in the town center. Visitors are advised to arrive early and contact the local authorities in advance for detailed accessibility information during their stay.
