The enigmatic island of the Great Gods
Samothraki is renowned for its archaeological treasures. Everyone is familiar with the statue of Nike, the Winged Victory, currently housed in the Louvre Museum in Paris, which was unearthed on the island. However, it is less well-known that the Cabeirian Mysteries were held here in antiquity — one of the most significant religious events of the ancient world, featuring unique mystical rites.
Samothraki possesses a wild, verdant nature that sets it apart from other Greek islands, making it the ultimate destination for adventure and exploration. Forests replete with plane, oak, chestnut, and cedar trees alternate with rugged bare rocks, dense shrubland, and rare aromatic and medicinal plants that fill the air with scent. Countless streams spring from the slopes of Mount Saos and flow down towards the sea, forming impressive waterfalls and natural stone pools, the famous vathres.
