A Journey through the History of Letters
An Immersive Experience
Spanning 1.2 hectares, the museum offers more than just a static exhibition. It presents a vibrant narrative. Through interactive tours and projections, visitors of all ages discover the human ingenuity behind the art of printing. The experience is elevated as young and old alike have the opportunity to print on vintage presses, gaining an appreciation for the effort that used to be required to produce each printed page in the past.
Collections and Activities
Within its two expansive wings, printing presses, rare editions, and tools are exhibited. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of Cretan scholars and printers during the early period of printing, highlighting their contribution to literature and culture. The museum also boasts a remarkable library, a gift shop, and a café.
A Living Cultural Hub
The Museum of Typography is a member of important international associations and the European Route of Industrial Heritage. Its amphitheatre hosts conferences, book presentations, theatrical performances, and musical events. Each year, a successful international poster competition is held, with the winning entries exhibited in its spaces, bridging historical legacy with contemporary graphic design.
A visit here is a journey into knowledge and the dissemination of ideas, in a space where the technology of yesterday meets the inspiration of today.
