The Spartathlon, the International Ultra-Distance Race (245 km), will take place on 26 and 27 September 2026. It is one of the most challenging races in the world and attracts great interest because of its strong historical background.



This year, 403 top athletes from around the world will take part, ready to face the heat, the night, fatigue and their own limits as they make their way to Sparta. The final entry list includes 62 Greek athletes, men and women.

The race will start early on Saturday morning, at exactly 07:00, beneath the Acropolis, on Dionysiou Areopagitou pedestrian street. It will finish on Sunday 27 September at 19:00, in front of the Statue of Leonidas in Sparta.

The awards ceremony will take place that same evening at 21:00 in the city’s central square, where the first three men and the first three women to finish the race will receive their awards.
