Maria Callas Museum

The first Museum in the world dedicated to Maria Callas, the legendary Greek soprano of the 20th century, opened its doors to the public in October 2023. This year marks the centennial anniversary of the Divina’s birth and is included in the UNESCO’s celebratory list of anniversaries for 2023.

The museum is housed in a beautiful historic building from the interwar period, located in Mitropoleos Street, in the heart of Athens. The space was created in order to inspire, entertain and showcase the remarkable technical elements that made her unique worldwide.

Visit the museum and experience an immersive journey that will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the different aspects of her career, personality and life, beyond the myths that follow her name. The museum’s exhibits include distinct and special items that belonged to this multifaceted artist, who managed to change the world of opera forever with her broad voice range, unique sound palette and stage charisma.

Get to know her personality, her life in Greece, her international career with the unforgettable roles, the people in her life, as well as the significant legacy that she left behind through texts, personal objects, videos and rare audio clips. The collection began in 2000 in Paris and has since been enriched with donations from various organisations and individuals, as well as with heirlooms that belonged or are related to Callas, resulting in a total of 1000 exhibits today.

*The Museum is accessible to people with disabilities.
