Among Greek soloists, Danae Papamatthaiou-Matske and Giorgos-Emmanuel Lazaridis stand out for their sparkling and profound interpretations, which are consistently recognised both within and outside the Greek borders. Both have a close relationship with classical and romantic German music, and have chosen three great sonatas from the repertoire for violin and piano. Beethoven’s Seventh and Brahms’ Third are works of deep spirituality and drama, a mood that is revolutionary in essence, but at the same time sedate and sober. Alongside them, Beethoven’s Third is worth enjoying, which, although rarely heard in concert halls, is an explosive work, full of freshness and vitality.
