Diamantis Palaeologos - Festival of Traditional Dances

For the 8th consecutive year, the traditional dance festival "Diamantis Palaeologos" will take place in Skopelos Town from Friday 7 to Sunday 9 July 2023.

The festival is organised by the non-profit civil society "Plegma" and is held in honour of the inspiring dance teacher Diamantis Paleologos. The vision of the organisers and the large group of volunteers is to establish the festival as an open celebration, bringing together dancers and bands from all over the world and promoting Skopelos as a centre of popular culture and tradition. The festival is a member of the European and World Folklore Festival Association and is certified with the EFFE LABEL by the European Festivals Association. It received the Silver Award in the Festival category of the Tourism Awards 2017 and in the Culture category of the Best City Awards 2016 and has been presented as a case study in Greek and foreign universities and conferences. In recent years it has been under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Greek National Tourism Organisation, the General Secretariat for Youth and Lifelong Learning and the Hellenic Commission for UNESCO. During this three-day celebration, Skopelos will resonate musically and dancingly with different traditions and cultures, showing their diversity, richness, and depth through a series of dance performances, as well as parallel activities such as workshops, seminars, exhibitions, open rehearsals, feasts, etc.
