The Municipality organises the Armata, the biggest celebration on the island, with a representation of the glorious Sea Battle, along with wonderful cultural activities from .

Spetsiots dedicated their victory to Panaghia, the Virgin Mary, building the chapel of Panaghia Armata, as, according to tradition, she helped the Greeks defeat the Turkish fleet.

The celebration programme, from Friday, August 30 to Sunday, September 8, 2024, includes artistic events, such as painting exhibitions, musical and dance recitals (concerts, choirs, traditional dances and music troupes, etc.), theatrical performances, gun salutes and much more.

On Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Poseidonion Square, at 21:30, there will be a re-enactment of the historical battle with a replica of the Turkish flagship being set alight, accompanied by a narration concerning the historical events. The celebrations shall come to a close with a big fireworks display.
