The Works Sound Like Music
The Museum of Modern Greek Art of Rhodes in collaboration with the George Zongolopoulos Foundation presents the exhibition "Works sound like music" with sculptures and paintings by George Zongolopoulos presented in the building of the New Wing of the Nestorideio Melathro until Saturday, October 14, 2023.
The curator of the exhibition is Katerina Koskina, a Dr. of Art History and Museologist, as well as the President of the Museum's Artistic Committee. The artworks of George Zongolopoulos, previously exhibited at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, will be on display at the Museum of Modern Greek Art Rhodes for a duration of four months. Visitors will have the opportunity to admire the artist's paintings and sculptures in the New Wing of the museum.
George Zogolopoulos was a prominent Greek sculptor known for his groundbreaking contributions to contemporary art. Born on March 12, 1921, in Athens, Zogolopoulos developed a passion for sculpture at an early age. His works often showcased a blend of traditional and modern elements, reflecting his deep appreciation for both ancient Greek art and contemporary aesthetics. Zogolopoulos is particularly renowned for his iconic sculpture, "The Runner," which became an enduring symbol of the 2004 Olympic Games held in Athens. Throughout his career, he explored various mediums and techniques, including metal, stone, and glass, pushing the boundaries of sculpture and leaving a lasting impact on the art world. His innovative approach and dedication to his craft solidify George Zogolopoulos as a pioneer in the realm of contemporary Greek sculpture.
