100 Years of Mexican Revolution – Film festival

Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, on the occasion of 100 years of Mexican Revolution, is presenting to the Athenian audience the best of Mexican cinema! Don’t miss this unique chance to get acquainted with Mexican culture by watching special award-winning documentaries and fiction movies!

The Mexican Revolution, the first social revolution of the 20th century, which overturned a 33-year-dictatorship thanks to legendary folk heroes like Pancho Villa and Emiliano Zapata, has been a great source of inspiration for many artists over the years. Many important directors and famous actors have used their passion and creativity to “bring back to life” the revolution heroes, whose life and beliefs still inspire us awe and respect…

Don’t miss the highlights of this tribute: the silent film “The Revenge of Pancho Villa”, the award-winning film by Elia Kazan “Zapata” and the all time classic masterpiece by Russian avant-garde director Sergei Eisenstein “¡Qué viva México! “.
