The travelers visiting Nestos, approaching respectfully and attentively this heavenly landscape, have the possibility to admire wild flowers of unique beauty, such as orchids, in their natural surroundings. Moreover, those who love nature and sports can enjoy the presence of the river by walking near it on the European route E6 or crossing it by kayak. The famous Nestos straits, a 22-kilometer-long route passing through the massifs of Rodopi, also provide a very interesting tour. The riverside path is properly organized, departing from Galani (17 km away from Ianthi) and ending up some 10 km further in the abandoned settlement of Livera. Nestos River, which has been a “Cornucopia” for the region, needs particular sensibility and protection from the visitors.
