Tour in Askeli-Poros

Built on the slope of a hill full of pine trees, Askeli offers a panoramic view of the Aegean Sea. It is the most touristic area of the island and has a large organized beach with a school of water sports. It is located 3 km NE from the port of Poros.

Sightseeing

  • The monastery of Zoodochos Pigi (18th century), 4 km E of the city, on a slope full of pine trees and with a sea view. The church is a domed basilica with a castellated bell tower. The valuable wood carved chancel made in Cappadocia during the 17th century, as well as the imposing episcopal throne are of specific interest. At the entrance of the monastery is a spring well-known for its therapeutic qualities.
