Gliki is built on the banks of Acherontas, the natural boarder of Thesprotia and Preveza prefectures, and is a quiet base for starting your trips to Soulio villages and Acherontas area.
From Gliki you can go to Souli either by car or on foot...
Leave your car in the tavern right next to the river, on the dirt road that starts from the village and ends up in the river springs. Walk through the plane tree forest up to the springs where large quantities of water well out as if they are thirsty for the sun light…
So far you do not have to wet your feet. From now on you should though walk in the water, against the current. In some points you will probably need to swim in the crystal clear waters of Acherontas. When you enter the gorge you will see one of the most beautiful sceneries in Greece.
Walk in the river until its affluent “Dala stream”, where the ruined bridge is.
If you cannot stand the water or if the time of the year is not right, you can reach this place from the old Souliotes pathway Skala tis Tzavelenas which nowadays has been reconstructed.
We suggest going up the stream to its springs and the reconstructed mill. The pathway to Souli starts from here.
There, apart from the captains' houses and the several wells, you can also visit Ai Donato and Kougki. If you continue you can climb the imposing Kiafa fortress.
In Souli coffee places fast food is also offered. If you cannot compromise with fast food you should go back to Gliki.
For your return choose the old pathway from Samovina. It will take you to Skala tis Tzavelena. In the taverns of Gliki, next to the river, under the plane trees you can find anything you want.
