By bike

Greece has a longstanding tradition in cycling. The routes which can be enjoyed by bicycle in Greece are among the best in the world. Some are very demanding because of the hilly terrain, others are less strenuous, but nevertheless beautiful. Cyclists, in the spirit of competition or simply with a desire to explore, will find that Greece has wonderful countryside in which to pursue their favourite sport.

Among the cities which offer bike lanes are Athens (in some municipalities), Thessaloniki, Volos, Karditsa, Trikala, Larissa, Kos, Kavala, Nafplion, Lamia and Mesolonghi.

 

Bike-friendly...by all means

In Athens, the transportation of bikes is allowed in the METRO (lines 1,2,3) and the TRAM.
Kindly be advised that only two bikes are allowed in every vehicle. Use the last door to enter your bike. However, if you have a folding bike, you are welcome in all Means of Public Transport.
