Day trip to Chalkida

Set out on a day trip from Athens to Halkída, the capital of Evia Island!

Chalkida is famous for its old (Sliding) Bridge Negroponte, the Strait of Euripus, where you can watch the famous tidal phenomenon which depends on the gravitational forces of the Moon! Halkída is also renowned for its impressive cable bridge and its fresh fish tavérnas!

Take a leisurely walk to the north side of the pedestrian beach and admire the neoclassical mansions. Spend a relaxing day gazing at the seaside scenery from the Karábamba Castle, and enjoying a nice cup of coffee at the cafés near the sea! Interested in history? Wander around the Castle District and its Byzantine monuments, or just tour the Archaeological and the Folklore museums.
