Several organized and free beaches with clear waters and easy access are located in Athens’ south suburbs that extend along Saronikos Gulf (from Palaio Faliro area to Vouliagmeni) as well as in other Attica areas. Lots of them received prizes from the program "Blue Flags of Europe", which are awarded to coasts and marinas meeting strict criteria as regards to the cleanness of the sea and the coast, good organization and safety as well as the protection of the coastal environment in general.
