Monastery of Taksiarches

It is the most significant monument of Serifos. The monastery of Taksiarches is like a fortress and was built in the beginning of the 17th century. In the past, it was often invaded by pirates due to its wealth. The wooden Episcopal throne and the Alexandrian epitaph are worth seeing. You can visit the monastery only from the consent of the monk. It is located 9.5 km north of Chora.
