December 2013

A journey to festive Greece!

December is the most festive, sweet, tuneful, delicious, family, wonderful month of the year! Every Greek city and village wears its best and is decorated with all sorts of lights. Melodic children’s voices sing traditional carols in every corner of the country and delicious dishes and sweets welcome us to the magical world of Greek Christmas.
So, here are a few suggestions for this month:

  • escape to picturesque Karpenisi, a town of tile roof houses, lovely local dishes and landscapes full of contrasts
  • get familiar with the Greek customs for Christmas and New Year’s Eve through a journey to the Greek Art
  • go for your holiday shopping in Athens and discover the ideal buys to suit every taste and pocket
  • get to know the story behind the New Year’s Cake (or Pie) and various recipes from all over the country
  • visit the renovated Municipal Theatre of Piraeus which recently opened to the public, hosting a variety of theatrical performances, concerts and art events.

A few days before this year ends, we would like to share with you the recipe for kourabiedes, a traditional Christmas sweet, through our first “It all tastes Greek to Me” video and send you our best wishes for the holidays!

Happy New Year! We will save a piece of Vasilopita for you! We hope you win the lucky coin!
