Chalikiopoulou lagoon

Chalikiopoulou lagoon is the most productive lagoon in the island. It is a water biotope of great ecological value which gives the opportunity to the travelers to enjoy the variety of flora and vegetation while for others it is the "Hylaikos Port of Odyssey".
At the mouth of Chalikiopoulou lagoon is Perama region with view of the well known Ponticonisi islet where you can go by boat from the small Aghios Nikolas quay. Perama connects to Vlacherena monastery (17th century) via a 300m footbridge.
On your way from Perama to Benitses you will see the beach, the semi destroyed Kaizer bridge which connected the beach with Achillio palace in order for William II to have easy access to the sea. You can enjoy your dinner at the restaurants of the area with view of the soft light blue color of the Ionian sea.
