GALAZIO SPILAIO (blue cave) or FOKIALI CAVE. This is probably one of the most beautiful caves encountered in the Mediterranean region. The atmosphere is dreamy, dominated by all shades of dark and light blue among splendid arrays of stalagmites and stalactites. A boat can enter the cave, however, passengers need to lower their heads. It is preferable to visit the cave in the morning when there is ample sunlight. In the eastern part of the island llie many smaller caves. The most outstanding one is Kolones Cave.
