(Traditional Christmas sweets)
For the syrup
Beat together the first 4 ingredients.Sift the flour, baking powder and cooking soda 3 times. Add the sifted combination in the first mixture with the olive oil and stir well. Mould small quantities (in the shape of an egg) and give them oblong shape. Place them on baking paper and bake under medium fire for 30 minutes. Boil the ingredients for the syrup. Pour it over melomakarona. Leave them to absorb the syrup for 15 minutes. Take melomakarona out of the syrup and place them in a plate. Sprinkle them with chopped walnuts and cinnamon. This recipe is for about 40 pieces.
