The Thessaloniki International Film Festival is back in town

Faithful to its established annual appointment, the 53rd Thessaloniki International Film Festival will take place from November 2 to November 11, 2012.

Films from all over the world, cinematic surprises, distinguished guests, tributes, Master Classes, round table discussions and parallel events will comprise the ten day festival, transforming the city of Thessaloniki into a place of discovery and productive discussion on the Art of Cinema.

Four significant directors will be honoured this year in the 53rd Thessaloniki International Film Festival and will attend the event to present and discuss their work: Aki Kaurismaki (Finland), Bahman Ghobadi (Iran), Andreas Dresen (Germany) and Cristian Mungiu (Romania).

The 53rd Thessaloniki International Film Festival includes a tribute to the work of the famous Greek auteur Theo Angelopoulos in honour of his memory: three of his landmark films will be shown and there will be a round table discussion on his exceptional career. In addition, the Festival organises a concert with Angelopoulos’ regular composer Eleni Karaindrou and singer Dimitra Galani.
