The show is about places and space across the history of contemporary art, and the transcendence of reality from the surrealist point of view of the two artists.
The retrospective exhibition showcases works of art by Philip Tsiaras from the SUPEREAL series which was on display at the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography and the Stella Art Foundation in Moscow, as well as from his new series titled The circle of life.
Chris Doulgeris places on display material from his 1990s photo archive of Rethymnon in comparison to current photos of the very same subjects. The subjects captured by the lens of Doulgeris are treated as matters of daily life.
The exhibition also includes a part of the joint work of the two artists; it consists of the Rethymnon photos by Doulgeris which Tsiaras reprocesses using photomontage, while adding his own circles of life to daily aspects of the buildings.
The two artists also appear as both photographers and curators in the exhibition titled Ithaca returned, which was organised and shown as part of the Return to Ithaca 2013 Festival and is now hosted at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Crete. This is a selection of works by Greek and international artists on the subject of travelling, transformation, wandering.
