Periplus at the 48th DIMITRIA

The 48th DIMITRIA, the great festival of the Municipality of Thessaloniki that goes on until October 26, invites the audience to a musical journey which has two points of reference: Greece and Portugal.

“Periplus” (=circumnavigation) is a tour of the history and culture of the Mediterranean peoples. From rebetika to fados and from the braguesa guitar to the bouzouki, the distances are a matter of geography, not of soul.

The multi-talented Amélia Muge, a Portuguese historian, musician and composer of the most popular modern fados, meets the Thessalonikian singer, composer and music columnist Michalis Loukovikas.

The album - book of the two artists (named Periplus/deambulações luso-gregas) has already received accolades in big Mediterranean music festivals.
