Painting and small constructions by Nikos Michalitsianos

The renowned painter Nikos Michalitsianos presents his new works at the exhibition entitled Painting and small constructions which is hosted at the Municipal Gallery of Piraeus until February 28, 2014. The exhibition includes oeuvres that the artist created in the last three years as well as previous ones.

The exhibition is divided in two sections. The first, The books of memory, includes works which were presented for the first time in the exhibition Pavillon M in Marseille – European Capital of Culture 2013 in August 2013. In this section, the artist explores the connection between memory and knowledge through the daily routine of a book which is suggested as a concept and as an artistic reality.

The second section relates to the house as a symbol and as a concept. The painter here, with the primordial sketch of houses as a basis, constructs with different materials such as wood, iron, metal, threads and ceramic new artistic suggestions around this theme.

Along with his sculptural constructions, the exhibition includes paintings, of small and large scale, from the total of the artist’s work.

During the exhibition workshops for children as well as guided tours will take place.
