Maria Pagés comes to Greece with her group of 25 dancers and musicians, to present her new project Utopia, a performance inspired by the famous Brazilian architect and thinker, Oscar Niemeyer (1907-2012).
Utopia is an artistic and ethical pursuit of nonconformity and yearning. A piece that is about solidarity, commitment, exile, the fleetingness of Life, the littleness of Man in a cosmos that possesses greatness and is indifferent to pettiness, one that needs - today more than ever – imagination and idealism as the necessary vehicles of change.
This flamenco dance is staged following a scenario inspired by the curved lines of Oscar Niemeyer’s drawings, the flamenco costumes are amazing, the music is written specifically for the show and played live (including a samba called Tranquilo com a vida composed by Oscar himself and sung by the singer & songwriter Fred Martins); these are the features of the latest creation by the Maria Pagés Dance Company.
