Konstantinos Parthenis managed to mingle the morphological perception of the modern aesthetics with the Modern Greek perception of painting. As a teacher in the Fine Arts School, he influenced decisively the moulding of the ‘Generation of the ‘30s’ that combined Hellenism with contemporary aesthetic expressions.
The exhibition, curated by Nikos Zias, presents valuable works of Parthenis’ itinerary (portraits, still-life and landscape paintings, paintings with religious topics etc) from the collections of the National Gallery-Alexandros Soutzos Museum, the National Bank of Greece, the Bank of Greece, the Athens Municipal Art Gallery, the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Hellenic Parliament, Agios Alexandros church at Palaio Faliro and from several other private collections.
