Folk toys at the house of Nikos Hadjikyriakos Ghika

Folk toys at the house of Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika is the exhibition premiere of the Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika Gallery, held one and a half years after its opening and ongoing until March 9, 2004.

This first temporary exhibition, a small tribute to the artist who hosts it, focuses on childhood. Known and unknown drawings by the artist are exhibited in an environment that adults will find nostalgic and children will find charming. The drawings focus on folk toys, as well as old games, many of which are no longer used.

Many of these works are being exhibited to the public for the very first time. They are drawn from the collection of the Ghika Gallery and from private collections, while most of the toys are from the Benaki Museum collection of Toys and Childhood.

The exhibition is curated by Konstantinos Papachristou and Ioanna Moraiti. The design is by Pavlos Thanopoulos.
