Christmas with Sylvie at the Athens Concert Hall

Sylvie Guillem, the world’s greatest dancer alive, will give 19 performances together with Akram Khan and his troupe at the Athens Concert Hall, accompanied by the Tokyo Ballet.

Guillem’s unquestionable skills have established her rapidly as a superstar. Her approach to leading roles of the classical repertoire she has performed has changed the dancing standards fundamentally and permanently, and even the standards of the female dancer body type! She has created new norms for the society of modern dance and she is considered its most famous representative – and rightly so.

It is precisely this happy marriage of ‘artistic languages’ so different from one another, namely the modern dance elements and the classical ballet techniques, that the great Diva will include in her performances this Christmas.

Renowned dancer and choreographer Akram Khan and his troupe will perform next to Guillem in the acclaimed show Sacred Monsters accompanied by live music and him in the co-starring role. The famous Tokyo Ballet will also perform in the classic Marguerite and Armand, next to great partners and soloists such as the pianist David Cabassi, the dancer Olivier Sanout and the first dancer (Etoile) of La Scala di Milano, Massimo Muru.

Enjoy the diverse performances of the famous and unique ‘priestess’ of dance who will breathe life into the Sacred Monster on to what she calls her sacred monster, the stage.

The Tokyo Ballet will perform Etudes (choreography by Harald Lander) and will also give a number of afternoon & evening performances of the Sleeping Beauty with special rates for children.
