Christmas and the New Year’s celebrations of the City of Athens

The City of Athens welcomes Christmas and 2014 with a rich and original programme of events with a focus on children and games.

This year’s festivities include various artistic events in open air as well as in several venues of Athens such as concerts by the City of Athens Philharmonic Orchestra, educational programmes, art exhibitions, puppet theatre, shadow theatre, surprise events, theatrical performances, workshops for children etc.

Athens will be brightly illuminated and Syntagma Square will be decorated with the traditional Greek symbol of Christmas, the ship. Big, bright and colourful ornaments will be shining night and day!

New Year’s celebrations will be on from 2 p.m. Several groups of artists will lead to the great appointment on the New Year’s Eve at Thissio in order to welcome New Year with a big music concert.

This year’s celebrations will end on Sunday, January 5, with a variety of workshops and performances at Syntagma Square.

Visit downtown Athens and live Christmas magic through sounds and images that you will certainly never forget!
