Greece and China lie far from one another on the globe, but they make a profoundly interesting pair; these two peoples have greatly contributed to the foundations of world civilisation. In the last 50 years, both have undergone rapid and dramatic changes.
It is the sense of these changes that Robert A. McCabe has tried to capture in his images. Some photos of the exhibition are purely documentary, while others set off the poetry, essence and composition of their subject matter as well as the theme in general.
In the case of China, you see change in midstream, with the old and the new often juxtaposed. In the case of Greece, the photos selected show how Greece was until recently, before many areas were overwhelmed by mass tourism and the modernisation of transport and infrastructure.
Curator of the exhibition is Ms Despina Zernioti, Director of the Corfu Museum of Asian Art.
