Across visual arts exhibition at the Hellenic American Union

If you are downtown Athens, stop at the Hellenic American Union galleries to visit the exhibition Across by visual artist Mary Christea which will last until June 21, 2013.

Across, the artist’s most recent project, is a three-module installation including paintings, projections and sound, signifying the passage across.

In Mary Christea’s work, concepts such as redefinition, knowledge, thought, responsibility, are revisited for re-examination and rethinking. Time dilates, it is experienced differently, and the past coexists with the present and the future, revealing the way in which powerful structures and circumstances interact and shape the human being.

Through her work Across, Mary Christea asks herself, ‘what is it that, in this day and age, sheds light on the universal lack of values and vision?’ This question gives rise to a deeper exploration and discussion.
