6th Tinos Running Experience

The Tinos Running Experience, which is now in its 6th edition, takes place in Tinos Island on June 8th 2019.

The programme includes a main race (21 km), a 9,9 and 4,9 kilometer race as well as the 900 meter Tinos Kids Run and the one hundred meter race for people with disabilities. All races will take place on June 8th offering participating runners and athletes from all over the world the opportunity to run the races while enjoying Tinos’s verdant landscapes, authentic villages, unique architecture and folklore art.

The main race route starts at beautiful  Volakas – a village of unique natural beauty thanks to the huge lunar-like granite rocks that surround it – and winds through the villages of Skalados, Krokos, Komi and Kalloni before reaching the finish line at Hora, Tinos’s main town. The 9,9km and 4,9 km Tinos Fun Run races both start at Tinos town and finish at Tinos port following a route that highlights the island’s idyllic coastline and alluring beaches, whereas the 900m Tinos Kids Run and the 100m Tinos Special Run both start and finish at Tinos port.

Parallel events include the popular “pasta party” on June 7th at Loutra village for runners to get acquainted with the island’s exceptional gastronomy and hospitality and an optional “trail walking event” on June 9th in one of the many trails of the extensive Tinian path network for participants to better discover the island’s natural beauties and pristine landscapes.

The 6th Tinos Running Experience is organised by Tinos’s Commercial and Industrial Association in collaboration with the Region of South Aegean Islands and the Municipality of Tinos. Technical support for the event is provided by “All About Running”.

More info about Tinos island:
Tinos is a northern Cyclades island situated right next to world-renowned glittering Mykonos but relatively unspoilt and untouched by tourism. It is mostly known for the Church of Panagia Evangelistria (Our Lady of Good Tidings), one of the most important pilgrimage sites of the Greek Orthodox Church located in Hora, the island’s main town and port. Moreover, Tinos is a walker’s paradise and an emerging foodie destination featuring more than 60 mesmerizing beaches, 45 traditional villages and a thousand dovecotes scattered across its countryside. The island also boasts a great folklore art and marble sculpting tradition that is mostly evident in the marble-ornamented village of Pyrgos in the north side of the island.
