31st Athens Classic Marathon

Athens will be in the sports spotlight on November 10, 2013 when the 31st Classic Marathon will take place.

More than 30,000 runners – a record number of all times! – will participate in the event and the races it includes; the Marathon Race, the Power Walking on the Marathon Course, the 10km Road Race, the 5km Road Race as well as a 1000m Kids Fun Run.

More than 10,000 Marathon runners will have the opportunity to follow the original route of the Marathon run in the 1896 Olympic Games, following the footsteps of the ancient Greek soldier on a Historic path with no finish line.
Year after year, the Athens Classic Marathon is becoming one of the most important Marathon Races worldwide.

Yet, it is not just a marathon race on a route of 42,195m, far from it! It is the first Marathon Race in modern history, heavy with athletic values and ideals. This year’s Athens Classic Marathon is dedicated – as in previous years - to the memory of Grigoris Lambrakis, a Balkan Games Champion, a Pacifist and a Member of Parliament.

In this huge sports and culture celebration, where classic meets modern, thousands of runners and spectators will applaud each other and will feel the magic of this unique and unforgettable experience. Be there!
