During the 23rd World Congress of Philosophy many personalities not only from the field of philosophy will visit Greece. Participants’ volume is expected to exceed 2,000 people since this year the congress will take place at the birthplace of philosophical thinking and the art of dialectic. Main theme of the congress is ‘Philosophy as inquiry and way of life’ underlining the significance for the theory and practice to be linked, a matter which is today more relevant than ever. Through constructive dialogue and reflection participants are invited to answer burning questions about the nature, the role and mission of philosophy in the modern polymorph, techno-scientific and planetary civilisation.
The opening ceremony will take place at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus while alongside the sessions and workshops at the School of Philosophy at the University of Athens, four symposia have been scheduled to take place at places of great historic interest, namely Platonic Academy, Aristotle’s Lyceum, Pnyx and Agia Foteini church at Kallirois str.)
The event is supported by many authorities and bodies among which Greek National Tourism Organisation, in collaboration with Greek Philosophical Society, responsible for organising the congress in Greece.
