Spetsathlon is co-organised with the Hellenic Triathlon Federation and it comprises the Spetses Triathlon Sprint (750m swim, 25km bike race, 5km run) and the Spetses Triathlon Endurance (1500m swim, 50km bike race, 10km run). Both races are complimented by the spectacular Spetses scenery with lush pine trees and azure seas as well as winding cobbled streets. Athletes can enter as individuals or as part of a relay team and medals will be awarded for all age groups. Non-triathletes may join the fun by completing a 25km bike race which will take them along the full island round, offering breathtaking views across the Argosaronic Gulf.
2014 Spetsathlon has the honour of welcoming a number of ParaΙympic Champions who will use the race as a practice run for the newly added Paralympic Triathlon Race at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
This year’s event is expected to attract a large number of foreign visitors and promises to offer unforgettable moments not only due to racing but also due to the number of parallel events including a free-for-all pasta party, an athletes’ briefing followed by a meet and greet, pre-race training exercises and cultural tours.
Spetsathlon takes place under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organisation and the Municipality of Spetses.
