An athletic event for all on Spetses Island!
The climate in Spetses is influenced by the Mediterranean climate, which predominates throughout Greece. More specifically, during October when the unique Spetses mini Marathon is held, the weather is ideal for athletic events, since the temperatures are warm and the conditions mild and rather dry. More than 3000 Greek and international participants take place in this event itself and over 6000 visitors come to Spetses.The Spetses mini Marathon has become a custom among the athletic events in Greece that include running and swimming races as well as athletic events for children.
For all you sports lovers this event will fulfill your needs either you want to participate in it or simply watch it. Spetses Island is an ideal athletic event destination for you, your family and friends. Each course and event is chosen and planned in order to highlight the natural and architectural beauty, as well as the rich culture of the Island.
The main port of Dapia as well as the Old Harbor (know as Palio Limani) on Spetses Island, is a tourist and commercial centre where the heart of the island’s entertainment beats and features cobbled sidewalks, neoclassical buildings, wooden balconies and colourful fragrant gardens that will captivate you. Here you’ll also find plenty of lovely beaches – many of which are accessible only by sea – and wonderful, secluded little coves.
The Island of aromas
Spetses, an island boasting a long naval tradition, has managed to retain its individual traditional character thanks to its well-preserved grand captain mansions, still bearing eloquent witness to the island’s glorious past. The picturesque old harbour and Dápia are the trademarks of Spetses town.
Taking into account that this island has adopted a policy that prohibits the use of automobiles it makes it an ideal and safe sport event location since it has a road network of 25 kilometers.
The volunteers undertake a particularly important role in the successful carrying out of the Spetses Mini Marathon event.

The runners will have the opportunity to run by the sea and the pine trees - given the unique natural beauty of the running course - which has been drawn along the periphery of the island and passes by historical landmarks.
The course of the 5km race - stays on the commercial and touristic NE part of the island where you can see the local landmarks as well as Dapia and the Old Harbour.
The 25km race goes around the island and is suitable for experienced runners. The start and end point of this race is at Poseidonion square, in front of Poseidonion Grand Hotel. On your way to the finishing point you’ll run around Spetses peripheral road where you’ll get to view the Island’s natural beauties.
The 10km race in Spetses mini Marathon 2014 is now a fact. The start and finish line is set at the Poseidonion square just like the 25km race. Runners will follow an anti-clockwise route similar to the 25km course.
Take part in the fascinating swimming competitions offered in the Spetses mini Marathon. Choose between the 3.000m (Kosta - Spetses) or the 5.000m (Spetses - Kosta - Spetses) course. The participants of the 3.000m race will be transferred by traditional boats to Kosta and swim back to the island at the Poseidonion square dock. The 5.000m swimming competition will begin and end at the Poseidonion Square dock on Spetses Island.
There are three categories of children’s activities. There are children’s swimming races, as well as running races for children up to 6 years old and those from 6-12 years of age. Furthermore you can enjoy other events with your children that will keep all of you busy.
