Canoeing and Kayaking in Greece

On a scale of difficulty from I to IV, Greek rivers have the highest rate of difficulty of IV.

The most difficult Greek location for kayaking is a 48 kilometer stretch of rapids on the Aoos River, starting at Vovousa at Anatoliko Zagori and ending at the stone bridge of Konitsa. The river Erymanthos is also considered difficult. 

Other, equally distinct rivers suitable for kayaking are:

Aspropotamos in Meteora (scale III)
Aliacmon (scale I - IV)
Myleopotamos (scale IV)
Pinios (scale I - III)

Nestorios (scale II)
Kalarrytikos (scale IV)
Arachthos (scale I - IV)
Evinos (scale II)


The best season for kayaking is from October to May. However, some rivers are suitable for kayaking throughout the year.
